I made the choice to use Hendricks to have my baby despite the bad reviews. I will say the nurses in labor and delivery were amazing. I was also impressed by NICU nurses. However the OB Martin at Hendricks I was super disappointed with. I decided to cancel my induction to wait and see if my baby would come naturally. His nurse or nurse practitioner made me feel like I had made a terrible choice. That I was risking my baby’s health. Scared me to death. Then proceeded to act like there was no more dates to be seen, and who knows when I could get in with them again. Didn’t return my calls. Yes let’s scare our patients into induction to fit our very busy schedules and agenda. Then leave them terrified with medical jargon that isn’t even 100% backed up with scientific research. Ignore our patients concerns. SUPER PROFESSIONAL.
I consulted with a friend of mine who is a very good midwife on the east coast. He thankfully reassured me this decision was fine. Three days later I delivered a healthy baby girl. Martin refused to come in and deliver the baby. Unprofessional, rude, and condescending attitude is what you’re going to get if you have any kind of opinion that doesn’t match his. You’ll also get scolded if you have any sort of setbacks on your appointments. I had had to switch insurances mid pregnancy, therefore some of my tests like my diabetic one came later. I chose to grin and bear some of the comments because I have limited options in the area, and with Medicaid your options are even thinner. I won’t be returning to Hendricks Hospital’s Ob. I would recommend to steer clear of this place.

If I could give them no stars I would!! The drs are not qualified to treat people at all. Took my toddler there Saturday night only for the Dr to tell me that numbers don’t matter, they send kids home with fevers of 106. They gave her Motrin and water. They tested her for flu and Covid. I asked if it could be pneumonia and the Dr looked me in my eyes and said no. I can’t explain how infuriating this is!!!

I came back to Arlington and took her to cooks, come to find out she has RSV and pneumonia!!

She had RSV when we were there and they dismissed it as nothing!!! They didn’t even listen to me. So glad I listened to my mom instincts and didn’t listen to a bunch of idiots who play dress up As Drs.

I had a procedure at Texas Midwest Surgery Center late August of this year with one of the physicians of Abilene Bone and Joint. We were going to repeat the injection procedure again. My copay in August was about $145. Today I get notified my co-pay is nearly $600 for the exact same procedure. The difference between August and November is that Texas Midwest Surgery Center merged with Hendrick Medical Center, and thus the change in cost. The kind lady on the phone explained the cost increase is due to more service offering?!?! Yet, I am getting exactly the same?!?! Hendrick has and continues going downhill ever since they changed to "Pro-Profit" run hospital and should have their Non-profit classification removed. I heard negative statements from people working for them and patients over the years, and now I can add my own experience. Needless to say, I am not going forward with the procedure. Monopolies don't last.

Physical facility outdated. The main entrance revolving door was not working and seemed to have been that way for some time.
The public elevators were problematic. Sometimes they worked fine. The next time no car answered the call. Sometimes the car opened but did not respond to floor selected.
Food was substandard.
Nursing care on the MCU was good, and the first shift on the medical floor was good.
However, the care on the second shift was below standard.
My wife's IV pump started beeping and the site was stinging and burning. I punched the call button and the nurse finally came after several calls. He turned off the alarm and restarted the pump and left.
Her arm started to hurt more and I called several times again before he finally came back, changed the IV to another site and DC'D the infiltrated site. He told her it would stop hurting in a little while.
My wife has a very high pain tolerance. She was moaning and crying from the pain.
I called and asked if he could bring an ice pack, standard practice for most infiltrated IVs.
He did didn't really seem invested in her pain.
I called and asked for the charge nurse. After some time, I went to the desk and found her and I told her I wasn't happy with the care my wife was receiving.
She followed me to the room along with the nurse and finally got some pain medication and an anxiolytic to help. It took a couple of hours for the pain to finally start to subside.
The charge nurse chided me for coming to the desk and expressing my displeasure.
My only job is to take care of my wife and I will advocate for her in whatever manner gets the job done. It should be very high on her list, also.
We were sent to Hendricks because there wasn't a bed for her at Covenant in Lubbock.
We would not choose to return.

On December 2nd at approximately 11:00 am I was taken to the ER with a fractured hip and femur. It was not until 7:00 pm on the 3rd before they got me into surgery. I suffered with this for 32 hours before surgery. The reason they gave me for the delay was that Hendricks only had 2 orthopedic surgeons on duty. I was given pain medications to help with pain, but it is unacceptable to make anyone suffer for this long.

If I could give negative stars I would. This hospital flat killed my mother a couple of years ago but I had heard alot of good things about Labor and Delivery. My sister had my niece here in the late 90's and they were wonderful. My daughter recently moved here and I very stupidly recommended this hospital to give birth in. Her doctor, Dr. Hill is wonderful as well as his staff. However, this morning myself and my daughter's aunt brought her in for her scheduled c-section. This was her 3rd c-section so we all knew what to expect as we've gone through this with her before. We arrived at 5:30 am after driving an hour, as we live in a neighboring rural town. My daughter was nervous as she was about to have major surgery. Her husband was nervous as this was his 1st experience with a c-section. We get there to be told we couldn't be with her before surgery because only 2 visitors were allowed and her husband counted as one and she, the patient, counted as the 2nd but my grandson, who is 13, doesn't count because he's a kid. That made no sense but why are people not told of this policy beforehand? Especially since people come from far out and most hospitals allow their patients to decide how many visitors they want there for the birth of their child, other than the OR, of course. It was like that in the late 90's when I was there with my sister while she gave birth. So my daughter was upset her mother and aunt couldn't be there and now their is a complication with my baby grandson. Also, most hospitals give guest trays to the dad or other support person as I know my daughter's insurance covers it. He can't go somewhere to get something to eat because he doesn't want to leave my daughter and his new son who's in the NICU. This is the last straw with this place. I have a big family in the area and more expectant moms but I will strongly advocate for EVERYONE to go elsewhere! New parents should be given some kind of paperwork that states what to expect upon arrival...you know...like other hospitals do so there are no surprises on the day of the surgery/birth. Finding out all of these differences the day of the birth certainly ruins any experience of joy that should surround the birth of a new family member. I've given birth to 2 kids, my sister 4, my daughter 3 other before today's 4th and in all the other hospitals we gave our business to and trusted with the care of our family nothing like this experience has ever happened. I'm so very disgusted. I should never have trusted this place again after y'all gave my mom a hypoxic brain injury during/after a routine knee replacement. I will say Hendrick Hospice is great when they deal with what's left of your loved one after the hospital has "taken care" of them ...to death.

I have POA on an elderly woman who was discharged wearing a hospital gown and no shoes. The Hospital called TRANSPORT instead of me. She was released in a hospital gown and no shoes. She was VERY DISTRAUGHT and called me but the no name, discharge nurse, took the phone from the patient and said my client WAS LEAVING 2 weeks early. Hendricks isn't even in the neighborhood of their MISSION STATEMENT. THIS DISCHARGE IS CRIMINAL.

If you wanna waste 5 hours and not even see a doctor or get a physical for your kid who hasn't pooped in 3 weeks, you should come here. There will be no help given. No help offered. Hope you like repeating yourself to 4 different people and not a single one of them actually listen to what you are saying. ⭐ Great stuff. I guess I should to also mention that primary Dr told us to go to the ER cause we couldn't be seen until the 8th of Nov, but the ER discharge just tells us to follow up with our primary...so let's just go a full 6 weeks without pooping for a 7 year old. That sounds like a great plan! Thanks Hendrick's!
