I would not recommend this doctor. I saw him for interventional radiology for thyroid malignancy. He flat out declined doing radio ablation on the thyroid even though its done by other doctors elsewhere. He stated if the malignancy was in the liver he might be able to do it better but the thyroid has too many nerves. He also pointed out a doomsday death scenario and didn't hear anything I tried to say. He then began lecturing me in a rather father condescending son type of scenario. So a mix of care but a " you are so dumb" kind of attitude. I'm seeing another doctor end of month that treats my condition. As for Dr Katz, I think he goes by the book 100% and will not tolerate a case by case basis. He will not hear anything you have to say and will just again go by the book. I've seen multiple USC doctors with the same attitude. Just by the book. I would stay away from this doctor if you are expecting compassion.

Dr Katz almost killed my son.
My son was admitted to Cedars Sinai on January 31st, 2017 and placed on heart transplant priority list. His heart was getting weak. On February 7th, 2017 Dr Katz performed a liver biopsy on my son. It was an Ultrasound guided liver biopsy. Dr Katz injured my son's hepatic artery and punctured both lobes and he was so negligent that he did not see the injury to my son's liver. No recovery period. He was transferred back to his room. By the time he was transferred to the ICU room his blood pressure was 35/25, he was in a lot of pain. He was transfused 14 units of blood that night and lots of other blood products. Because of all these my son was intubated, his abdomen was very distended. He had a big hematoma on upper left side of the liver and his abdominal cavity was filled with blood (11 days later 5.2 liters of blood drained from his abdomen). My son's liver failed. The next day he was taken back to the IR to stop the bleeding, contrast was used. Another CT scan with contrast and a few days later my son's kidneys failed. He was started on dialysis. He was intubated five times in three three weeks. Every time he was extubated the blood in his abdomen was putting pressure on the diaphragm and he was vomiting, risk of aspiration. He was not fed for over three weeks and that caused him an ileus. His bilirubin was 61.6. Some doctors gave up on him. Some how he survived. He was in ICU for over five months. My son is the recipient of heart/kidney transplant (his kidneys were perfectly fine just as his liver was). He is still very weak, he cannot walk. He did suffer a small stroke. It is heartbreaking to watch my son struggling. The worst part is that Dr Katz never came to see my son in the hospital and to say, "I am sorry". My son is still getting bills for the days in the hospital he was treated because of Dr Katz mistake and negligence.
