Dr. Foye is the only doctor that was able to diagnose my tailbone issue after 2 years of pain and treatment by other doctors. I came from the Midwest to seek treatment because he is well known as one of the only doctors well versed in tailbone issues and treatment. He is truly a caring person as well as an amazing doctor. He took the time to help me understand my condition and my treatment options. After having an ablation 2-1/2 weeks ago and am doing great. Back to doing things I could not.

My experience with Dr. Foye and his staff has been exceptional from the first phone contact all the way through the procedure I had at The Tailbone Pain Center in the Dept. of Physical Medicine at Rutger’s New Jersey Medical School.

From January through October 2023 I suffered with coccyx pain. I underwent numerous imaging studies and interventions with physiatrists and pain management doctors at the best facilities in Los Angeles. No one had experience with a technique for imaging the coccyx while seated, which Dr. Foye emphasizes is essential to determining the cause of tailbone pain, and therefore, how to treat it. Despite my best efforts over nearly a year, I could not get proper diagnosis or treatment. I spent eight months chasing down this problem with nothing working. My frustration ended when I found Dr. Foye.

His office set up a video telehealth appointment within a week of my first call. During the video appt. it became clear to me that I’d found the right doctor for this problem. Dr. Foye is caring, personable and compassionate, with a depth of expertise and experience treating conditions of the coccyx that I simply was unable to find anywhere else. He requested all my MRIs and X-rays. On a follow-up video call one week later, he was able to identify and clearly show me that I had a bone spur on the tip of my coccyx, something no other radiologist or physician had been able to see.

My husband and I flew to New Jersey and I had a nerve block which resulted in 100% relief and resolution of my pain over the ensuing month. Dr. Foye’s finesse in performing the procedure, coupled with his clear and constant explanation throughout the 15-minutes it took made the experience easy, stress-free and almost entirely painless. He made me feel at ease and comfortable with his friendly, professional manner and excellent communication.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have found Dr. Foye and to have been able to see him at Rutger’s Medical School. It is a significant relief in my life not to have to deal with this pain anymore. Thank you, Dr. Foye! My husband and I are very, very grateful to you!

After almost 7 years of tailbone pain being in my life, not being about to sit or fly on airplanes Dr Foye did two nerve blocks and a nerve burn and now I’m totally able to function. He is amazing!!! I flew from California to see him. Worth it

I have been dealing with tailbone pain that came out of the blue for approximately 4.5 months. The pain is when I am sitting and most painful when I go from a sit to stand position. I saw 4 different orthopedic physicians, a pain management physician, and also had a peer review done through my employer by a highly respected physician. None of these avenues provided me with any clarity as to why I was having such horrible tailbone pain. The over the counter meds and two different coccyx cushions also did not provide any relief. The ongoing tailbone pain, the frustration of not knowing why I had this, if it was something scary (like cancer) was taking a toll on me mentally. After doing a lot of research I came across Dr Foye's practice. I knew then that I had to see him. If someone could give me answers this has to be the guy. I was able to secure an appointment and he went above and beyond my expectations. Dr. Foye spent a lot of time going over the anatomy of the tailbone, my X-ray results, and treatment options. Because he orders both sitting and standing X-rays, he was able to provide a concrete diagnosis--dislocation of two bones in the coccyx when I sit down. None of the other doctors I saw or through peer review, even knew that both standing and sitting X-rays are needed. I only had standing X-rays done and a MRI which of course is lying down. My tailbone was not dislocating while standing or laying down so naturally those results were normal. It was because of Dr. Foye's rare expertise in the coccyx that I was able to finally have a diagnosis. Dr. Foye provided me with a wealth of information for my condition as it pertains to treatment options, expectations for now and future, as well as critical information that will impact a future pregnancy. Aside from being an expert with a wealth of knowledge, he takes his time to educate you and has an amazing bedside manner. He listens to your history and answered all your questions. You do not feel rushed or are just another number. In my experience and personal opinion, physicians with a pleasant bedside manner are normally not the best diagnosticians and vice-versa. Dr Foye is a rare breed and I cannot be more thankful that I was able to see him. I did undergo an injection at my first visit. I already feel some relief but time will tell the full effect. His office staff, particularly Marisol is so kind and caring - she also went out of her way to get me scheduled and even followed up with me several times to ensure the office received all my records and imaging on CDs. I now understand why people from all over the world come to see Dr. Foye.

So grateful for Dr. Foye's expertise in treating coccyx pain. As others have described, he diagnosed my issues using his special imaging techniques. I got nerve block + steroid using guided injection method. I was completely pain free for 6 months and just received 2nd round of injections. I'll go back whenever I need for more. Grace, in his office, has been very helpful! Seriously, if you have debilitating coccyx pain, he's your man!

UPDATE: March 14th:
We just received another bill from the University Hospital. This time the $10,000 bill has been reduced to around $60.00. The billing process has been extremely confusing. I am certainly happy we did not go to collections and that the bill was adjusted, but the journey to get here was arbitrary.

UPDATE: March 2nd 2023:
I am now several months out from my visit with Dr. Foye and I feel obligated to update & modify my review. First, Dr. Foye is warm, kind, takes his time with you, and very knowledgeable about tailbone pain. However we have run into several issues with his office and with the University Hospital since visiting there and I will detail the problems below:

1. The hospital tried to bill my insurance after clearing communicating with us the price to see Dr. Foye without insurance. I've paid the agreed amount (in the neighborhood of $1,000.00). This was the understood (and even says in our contract with them) total amount.

2. We have every month since November received a bill from the University Hospital indicating that we actually owe them $10,000.00. The university is threatening to turn us over to a collections agency if we do not pay.

3. Foye’s office workers are very hard to reach. It always takes several calls and messages to get them.

4. When we do reach them, they assure us it’s a mistake and to ignore. Yet, the papers we get still say we will go to collections.

Apparently the various departments within the University Hospital do not communicate. We have yet to get resolution and we still do not understand why our insurance was brought into the equation.

As it relates to my relief, I unfortunately did not receive any benefit from the injections. However, I’m confident most people do find relief through Dr. Foye’s approach.

I will continue to update this review as things play out.

Original Review Below:

I’m thankful to have found Dr. Foye. I’ve been in pain for several years, seen many different doctors and none of them could diagnose or address my tailbone pain. Dr. Foye not only diagnosed me properly, but he spent time with me helping me understand the path ahead. He is compassionate, warm, and never made me feel rushed or dismissed. Time will tell if the injections worked, but I’m very hopeful.

I flew my 17 year old daughter almost 700 miles, from SC to NJ, to seek treatment from Dr. Patrick Foye. She had already seen about 8 different physicians locally, 4 different chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapists, even an acupuncturist and no one could help with or even diagnose the source of her intense pain. Dr. Foye was the first and only physician that spent a lot of time listening to her and truly understood how debilitating her pain was. He answered both of our questions and never made us feel rushed or unimportant like so many other physicians have. The special X-ray technique and detailed MRI instructions were truly amazing. The difference in the quality of images produced was unreal and was crucial in diagnosing the actual problem. Dr. Foye saw a clear explanation for her pain on MRI images that a local radiologist and her regular physician missed. After years of being told she just had to learn to live with the pain, she had begun to feel that life wasn’t worth living. Dr. Foye has changed our lives and given us hope that one day soon she will be in less pain. He is a phenomenal physician with vast knowledge about coccyx pain and a compassionate, patient demeanor that inspires confidence in his very detailed treatment plan. I have read his book twice and often look at his website for advice and encouragement. He also makes himself readily available to his patients via email and telehealth visits. I would recommend anyone with coccyx pain to see him. Thank you Dr. Foye for giving us answers and hope for a better future!

Unfortunately, Dr. Foye was a big disappointment to me. After reading his book and all the great reviews, I had such high hopes.

I could readily overlook the disorganized and rude staff if I had some relief from my coccyx pain that I have been suffering from for over 5 years.

I was so surprised at the condition of his office. It was so messy, out of date and dirty.

He administered an injection and when it didn't work, he advised me that there was nothing more HE could do. He did suggest that I see a surgeon to have the coccyx removed. That is not an option that I want to pursue after hearing such horror stories.

I was so surprised that he seemed to be "a one trick pony" for me. I really thought he could do more.

Hopefully, others will have a better experience that I did. It seems that he is more interested in writing books and giving talks than actually dealing with patients.
