I’ve never had anything but good results here. Dr. Chappell is the best. He listens to his patients and make sure they’re getting the best care and the care that they want my wife and I will continue to return to him if we ever have problems.

My feet were treated with prolotherapy by Dr. Chappell a while back. After the prolotherapy the pain increased greatly. However, since I had never had a bad outcome from prolotherapy by other physicians I mistakenly thought that I had some kind of nerve problems on my feet instead of correctly attributing that the prolotherapy by Dr. Chappell made my feet worse. So a few months later I went back to him since I had hurt my back. I told him that I had a history of pubic symphysis joint injury, but it was relatively okay at that time. I thought that he would treat my spine and front-pelvis, but he decided to treat my posterior-pelvis and gluteus areas also even though I had no pain or any issues. After the treatment I came home, and as soon as I lay down on my back my back-pelvis started spasming which I had never experienced before. A couple of weeks later I called Dr. Chappell’s office and talked to his medical assistant about my condition, and she told me that Dr. Chappell used 25% dextrose injections. (My previous physicians had used 12.5% -15% dextrose.) Dr. Chappell was on vacation at that time and was to return to the clinic the following Monday. To my surprise, one day after his return I received a letter online from him indicating that he was discharging me because I did not follow his instructions. I wrote him back indicating that the only instruction he gave me during the last treatment was for me to be seen by a certain gynecologist for my pubic symphysis issues. I explained that I could see her, but that now I have a more urgent and serious problem of terrible spasming and instability of pelvis from his injections which need to be addressed right away. (I had not even been allowed to schedule with him, and I thought that was medical negligence and abandonment of a patient.) Since my response was now in writing he appeared to realize that not seeing me would look like he was neglecting his duty. His office immediately contacted me for scheduling. We had a virtual meeting, and he started the conversation by telling me that he is highly regarded in the community of prolotherapy. When I asked he told me that he used to use 12.5% dextrose, but that was not working so he had doubled the dosage to 25% which is too aggressive as a starter to my body in my opinion. (25% dextrose is for intra-articular-joints, not for extra-articular joints. Only later, I read my medical records, and he indicated that he also injected a 50% dextrose solution into my pelvis and surrounding areas.) I told him that I could see the gynecologist for pubic symphysis issues, but that I was in dire need of getting my new pelvis problems treated right away in order to stop spasming and pain, and stabilizing my whole pelvis. However, he told me that he was discharging me anyway because he said, “I need to be happy.” I was flabbergasted. (Later I saw his note lying again that he discharged me because I would not follow his instruction of seeing the gynecologist.) Since he was discharging me without treating my new condition I explained my concern that there were not many skilled prolotherapy physicians in Utah for me to get help. He indicated that they would contact two prolotherapy physicians to see if they would see me. Later, Dr. Chappell’s assistant told me that they did not hear from these two physicians. Months later I found out that Dr. Chappell goes to a prolotherapy physician in SLC for his own treatment, and Dr. Chappell gave 5 stars to this physician’s online review stating, “As a physician I am very picky as to who I would allow to perform procedures on me. And I trust Dr...to treat my pain” while Dr. Chappell did not refer me to him. I became disabled from Dr. Chappell’s prolotherapy treatments which includes weakened glutes that impacted my hips in addition to whole pelvic and feet instability. (I saw the gynecologist at some point, but she told me that she does not treat the issues I have which I thought that would be the case from the beginning.)
