I saw Dr. Pierre Martin at UCSF Neurology Clinic twice. He said my physical exam and diagnostics are normal. He concluded that my symptoms are mental and referred me to psychotherapy.

I did not agree with Dr. Martin, so I saw another UCSF doctor who was able to pinpoint the cause of my symptoms from his physical exam. When comparing the physical exams done by both doctors, they both did the same tests but at different locations. Dr. Martin's physical exam was localized, whereas the other doctor explored all the areas starting from where the nerve starts and ends.

I feel that Dr. Martin could be a better doctor if he was more thorough in his physical exams. Or perhaps more up-to-date knowledge is needed in general. On the positive, he has a wonderful bedside manner, but I expected more from this Yale graduate.

Front staff is awful
. Takes weeks to process a referral and then when the referral was processed I called them and they said they are not accepting new patients. Could you not have told me that before I went through the hassle of getting all the referrals done?

I was referred by my UCSF SPINE NEURO DEPARTMENT Doctor to Neurology for my debilitating pain that I have.
I received a text message that the referral has been received to call and make a appointment .
I called they told me they don' t have any appointments available not even for next year
What is wrong with UCSF?

I have had a neuro consult since 7/3/24. I am actually an employee of ucsf and have an uc HMO with the hospital but because the fellows and new residents have yet to place a new schedule into the system, I have yet to be able to even make an appointment: I get this is more of a UC system ERROR or maybe just their lack of persistence with a newly run system
but this ignorance and truly foreseen problem every year has yet to be resolved and now has people waiting to be seen at a world class hospital that runs worse than a community hospital.

This clinic has no consideration for Ada accommodations as I need certain days to Travel due to disability and APS taking me gave them 4 days for 4 different months can’t have any of those days as I need a wheelchair van to bring me they didn’t care about UPS they said it’s we don’t care about disability we don’t care about your accommodations. This is what we have. Oh well deal with it so they know I have disability but don’t want to accommodate me.

This is absolutely the worst neurology practice I have ever had the displeasure of working with. Their operation is an embarrassment considering the fact I have been trying to see a neurologist for over a year and I still can’t schedule an appointment. I must of had played phone tag with them and my primary doctor over 30 times in the last year. We send them a referral and there is always an issue, always something else that needs to be added. I let them know I have a comprehensive breakdown of all my previous visits from my doctor in NJ and asked them who to email it to so I can finally schedule an appointment; they tell me I can’t email it for who knows what reason. Completely sloppy and unorganized operation that I truly believe does not even want new patients. I am avoiding this practice going forward and think others should too, they do nothing to assist patients.

The doctor was a no call no show for my virtual appointment. I called several times and was told they would be there soon and on the last call was told they couldn’t get a hold of the doctor. An hour and 20 mins after my appt time I got a call asking to meet. I understand the need for tele-health visits during Covid and the difficulties in navigating the changes but we’re far enough into this that I feel this should be worked out now. Communication would have been appreciated and I honestly expect it for this sort of delay. A virtual visit w no physical exam was $883, which I feel is excessive. I would have chosen an in person appt or a different clinic in hindsight.

After 1 doctor said I'd had a stroke and I was sent home to wait for follow up appointments that I never got a call on, then I made another appointment on my own with a 2nd outside of my group and it was confirmed and had all the work in hand to be done but my medical group said it would be over 3 weeks to schedule me for the tests and others I was sent to Canada while others I never got through,....I ended up 2 weeks later in the ER! After that I was discharged with it as it being TIA only later to be told it was either nothing by one specialist and maybe a headache by another yet I wasn't functioning still on many levels and had no follow up appointments. 😱 NOT quality care!

In ONE visit here the doctor (Dr. Meisel) has done more than my whole practice in over 20 years! He and this team are following up on things he has found not just from the stroke but a major issue overlooked and misdiagnosed for 20 years! I am more than pleased with the center, the doctors, the care, the staff, the thoroughness, the whole experience. 💗 Very thankful!
